Training and Education

Every year, 15 million people are forced from their homelands, fleeing terror and persecution. We take the freedom and safety with which we are blessed in

education2America for granted. To help others understand God's call to welcome the stranger in our midst, Exodus World Service welcomes the opportunity to visit groups. Exodus speakers can tailor a presentation to fit any size and age group -preschool chapel, children's church, junior high classrooms, confirmation and youth groups, adult Bible studies and workshops, seniors groups.

Exodus offers in-person training for Christian volunteers, and speakers from the speaker's bureau make presentations to groups located throughout the Chicagoland area.

Interested in refugee ministry?

Exodus offers the training and education your group will love:

Presentations on refugee issues . Our experienced speakers will tailor a presentation for your groups age and size. Interactive activities, overheads and video are intertwined in presentations to make educating your group about refugees fun and interesting.

Training workshops on cross cultural communication, teaching English and
other topics:

education3Exodus conducts regular workshops to prepare volunteers with helpful skills, including refugee issues, cross-cultural communication, the Biblical basis for refugee ministry, Teaching English as a second language, tutoring for the INS naturalization interview. Exodus also provides work shops on volunteer management. Exodus provides in-depth training workshops on issues ranging from cross-cultural communications skills to advocacy.

Refugee camp simulation for youth and adults: This one to three hour role-playing simulation gives groups the opportunity to experience (in a small way) the challenges of being a refugee. Looking for a fun, interactive way to get your youth motivated about a service project? A refugee experience simulation teaches youth about refugees, then meet a refugee family when the youth deliver their Welcome to America! Pack.

Vision Trips to meet with refugee leaders:
These day-long events are designed to give individuals and groups a deeper understanding of refugees and refugee resettlement. Trips often include a visit to a refugee resettlement agency, visits with refugees, and an ethnic lunch. Watch our calendar for upcoming trips, or call Exodus about scheduling an exclusive Vision Trip for your group.
